Pure Omega HP

WHAT IT DOES

PROVIDES ESSENTIAL OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS

Pure Omega products provide a triglyceride form of omega-3 fatty acids sustainably sourced from anchovies, sardines, herring, tuna, and mackerel.

Every lot of Pure Omega is tested for purity and labeled potency claims. The results of these tests are available to you using the lot number found on each bottle. Check your product purity here.

HOW IT WORKS

EPA & DHA HELP SUPPORT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

Omega-3 essential polyunsaturated fatty acids have distinct chemical structures and physiologic functions that distinguish them from other families of essential fatty acids. Often lacking in Western diets, omega-3 fatty acids compete with other fatty acids in the body for cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) enzyme metabolism, incorporation into cell membranes, and the synthesis of lipid mediators.1-3 The long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are almost exclusively marine-derived and act together to influence membrane fluidity and signal transduction pathways.4

EPA and DHA are abundantly enriched in the retina, brain, and heart tissues.5-7 Each have preferential distribution within the phospholipid bilayer of cell membranes and have been shown to exert unique biological actions.4

Humans have limited capacity to endogenously produce EPA and DHA; therefore they are considered essential fatty acids. Dietary supplementation of EPA and DHA is an effective way to increase intake of these essential fatty acids.

FAQS

A: The peppermint flavoring compliments the purity of the oil and promotes a positive sensory experience.

A: Based upon our Research and Development team's findings, vegetarian soft gels do not provide a sufficient barrier against oxidation when compared to gelatin-based soft gels. The research on vegetarian soft gels is ongoing and with further development, an upgrade offering of a vegetarian gel may be available in the future.

A: The softgels should be stored in room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not required as the gelatin shell acts as an oxygen barrier to minimize oxidation.

A: The sustainably harvested fish within the products include: Sardina plichardus (pacific sardine), Engranlis ringens (Pacific anchovy), and Trachurus symmetricus (mackerel), which are caught in the clean, cold waters off the coast of Peru. These fish species are members of the herring family and they are caught using the purse seine method whereby nets as long as 1200 feet and as deep as 40 feet are deployed from the main ship and a smaller ship pulls one end of the net towards the main ship, enclosing the schooling fish in a circle. The bottom is then drawn closed and the fish pulled onto the boat. Purse seiners do not affect the bottom habitat and in terms of carbon footprint, high catch rates make this fishery one of the most efficient fisheries per ton in terms of energy use.

A: Pure Omega HP utilizes molecular distillation, a gentle, low temperature process to prevent the long chain omega-3 fatty acids from oxidizing over time through removing contaminants and pollutants from the fish oil.
